What is GamiPress?
GamiPress is a WordPress plugin designed to gamify websites by awarding users with points, achievements, and ranks for their participation and activities.

We've integrated SFB with GamiPress to help you reward your members for engaging with your community content and other members. This integration will allow you to reward members for a variety of actions, encouraging continuous participation and interaction within the community.  
 

Understanding GamiPress Elements
In GamiPress, the terms "points type," "achievement type," and "rank type" refer to different elements you can use to gamify your website. Here’s a brief explanation of each:
Points Type: 
Definition: Points are virtual currency awarded to users for performing specific actions.

Point Types: You can define different types of points (e.g., engagement points, achievement points, reward points, etc.).

How do users earn points?
Actions can include posting comments, completing their profile, liking posts, etc. Points can be configured to be awarded or deducted.

Achievement Type: 
Definition: Achievements are milestones or badges that users can earn by completing certain tasks or reaching specific goals.

Achievement Type: You can create different types of achievements such as Conversation Starter, Top Contributor, Community MVP, etc.

How can users earn badges?
By engaging with your community site, helping community members, creating a number of posts, or participating in events. etc.
Rank Type: 
Definition: Ranks are levels or titles that users can attain based on their accumulated points, achievements, or other criteria.

Rank Type: You can create different types of ranks (e.g., beginner, intermediate, expert) to reflect a user's progress or status within the community.

How can users earn ranks?
Users can earn ranks in a gamified system typically by accumulating points, achievements, or meeting specific criteria set by you in the backend.  For e.g., you can set thresholds where users need to reach a certain number of points to advance to the next rank. For example, reaching 1000 points might elevate a user from "Beginner" to "Intermediate."

SFB's GamiPress integration includes these actions:

Add New Topic / Post
Add Topic/Post in a Specific Forum
User activates account
User receives an upvote
User receive likes or upvotes (on comments or posts)
User receive likes (on post or comments)
User likes other posts or comments
User upvotes other posts or comments
Leaves a comment
Leaves a comment in a Specific Forum
User completes profile
User receives a downvote
User shares on social 

Examples 

Points Type Examples
You can create different categories of points such as Engagement Credits, Forum Activity Credits, Profile Completion Credits, etc.

I would recommend keeping it simple.  Create an "Engagement Credits" type and award points for different actions under this type.
Achievement Examples
You can create different types of achievements such as Newcomer Achievements, Conversation Starter, Top Contributor, Community MVP, etc.
Rank Examples
You can create different types of ranks such as Newcomer, Contributor, Engaged Member, Community Leader, etc.
Step-by-Step: GamiPress and SFB Integration Steps
Step 1. Install and Activate GamiPress Plugin
Go to your WordPress dashboard.
Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
Search for "GamiPress" and install the plugin developed by GamiPress.
Activate the plugin.
Step 2. Configure Point Types

1. Create Point Types:
  Go to GamiPress > Points Type page.
  Click on "Add New Point Type."
  Fill in details like Name (e.g., Engagement Credits, Forum Activity Credits), Singular Name, and Plural Name.
  Save the Point Type.

2. Add New Point Awards:
Click on "add new Points Awards" to define how points are awarded for each activity (e.g., 10 points for adding a new topic, 5 points for leaving a comment). Adjust earning conditions and limits as needed.

Look for Smart Forum Builder in the "when" dropdown and select a SFB activity for points.

You can setup different point awards for each type of activity that will result in points for your members.
Step 3. Create Achievement Types (Badges)

1. Create Achievement Types:
Go to GamiPress > Achievements.
Click on "Add New Achievement Type."
Enter details like Name (e.g., Community Contributor Badge, Forum Specialist Badge), Singular Name, Plural Name, and Description.

You can keep it simple by creating one achievement type titled "badges".

Set the Achievement Icon and choose if it’s repeatable (can be earned multiple times).

After you save, you'll now find an "achievements" menu outside of GamiPress menu in WordPress admin.

Click on it to define achievements.

2. Create Achievements
Click on the achievements menu.
Add a new achievement. 
You can leave the points awarded field empty.
Now you can setup criteria and required steps for achievement. Each achievement can have one or more steps. The steps can be required or optional.

You can create multiple badges / achievements such as - Newcomer Achievements, Conversation Starter, Top Contributor, Community MVP
Step 4. Define Rank Types

1. Create Rank Types:
Go to GamiPress > Ranks.
Click on "Add New Rank Type." 
You can create a simple rank such as "Levels".

2. Set Rank Requirements:
Now click on the "Rank" menu item outside of GamiPress menu.
And setup different ranks.
For the first rank (say newcomer rank) you don't have to setup any rules as that's the initial / default rank of all members.
But any other ranks they achieve, you can define the points or achievements required to reach each rank (e.g., 500 points for Active Participant).
Specify any additional criteria like specific achievements or activity levels.
Step 5. Test

Go to GamiPress > Ranks.
Click on "Add New Rank Type."

Progress Tracker
